The Inspiration | Michelle Lane Paris Collection

Inspired by Springtime in the city of light, Michelle Lane has designed a new collection that takes you along the banks of the Seine, through the halls of Musée de l’Orangerie, and up the bannisters of Parisian apartments.

“Paris is always a good idea.”

The Paris collection incorporates the soft camels, shimmering blues, rich olives, and iridescent blacks of the 2016 Spring/Summer runway while simultaneously nodding toward the city’s centuries-old architecture with cut-out design and twinkling lights.

“A walk about Paris will provide lessons in history, beauty, and in the point of Life.”

Thomas Jefferson

The sparkling pin-prick dots which line many of the frames in this collection are one of Michelle’s major innovations. Made by drilling tiny holes and filling them with a glittering varnish, they give the wearer the look of embedded crystals without the risk of fallout. Meanwhile, the temple designs reveal the line’s major sources of inspiration, including the iconic water lilies of Monet, the Egyptian art of the Louvre, the twisting wrought-iron along the Champs-Elysées, and the romantic rain of Spring.

“A final reminder. Whenever you are in Paris at twilight in the early summer, return to the Seine and watch the evening sky close slowly on a last strand of daylight fading quietly, like a sigh.”

Kate Simon

Through rain or shine, and from morning to night, the Michelle Lane Paris Collection captures the glittering, romantic charm of a city famed for centuries as the heart of art, beauty, love, and — of course — fashion.
