141–143 Flinders Lane
Melbourne VIC 3000
Entry is via a staircase
When: 17/04/2014 to 11/06/2014
About: If you want a break from chocolates and bunny rabbits this Easter weekend, Melbourne is the city for you. Often thought of as Australia’s culture capital, we knew we could rely on it to serve us up an arty alternative to the Easter activities occurring elsewhere across the country. Constructing Absence Part III is the “continuation of a series of site-specific exhibitions in which Eye Collective (Melanie Jayne Taylor, Trudy Moore and Steph Wilson), dissects, re-assembles and abstracts architectural spaces”. Using photography, sculpture and painting, these works are unique and awe-inspiring; a must-see for all art-lovers.
What Glasses to Wear: Art exhibitions call for a quirky geek-chic look, which is why we’d recommend these chunky glasses by 3.1 Phillip Lim.
What: Fremantle Street Art Festival 2014
Where: City of Fremantle
When: April 19 – April 21
About: As mentioned on theLOOK earlier this month, Perth will be treated to its renowned Fremantle Street Arts Festival which takes place this Saturday. Originally known as the Buskers Festival when it began in 1998, the festival was re-named a few years ago to reflect the diversity of the performers. During the Street Arts Festival, Fremantle becomes a huge outdoor theatre offering acrobats, comedy, art, circus and roaming street theatre. With the exception of some evening events, the Street Arts Festival is free. But remember that the performers do this for a living, so give generously when they pass their hat!
What Glasses to Wear: Outdoor events call for outdoor sun protection for your eyes. We recommend our exclusive brand Derek Cardigan’s Dark Fades, perfect for teaming with cropped silhouettes and muted colours.
