This is the case even if you&#8217;ve worn progressives or bifocals in the past.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember that every eye is different, and every person is unique. Here are some common things that might be obvious when trying out progressives for the first time, which will eventually become normal over time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>You notice some blurriness on the sides.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-cf20eaa8-1c4f-4eff-b6b3-e8cb28d68fc1\">This is sometimes called peripheral distortion because of the specific viewing zones in the lens. Try turning your head to the left or right rather than moving your eyes left or right, to avoid looking through the blurred edges.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use your nose like a camera and point it at what you want to look at. If you\u2019re looking at the ground, tilt your chin down slightly and it will come back into focus. The best thing you can do is be patient and practice! \u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do these exercises a few times a day:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Grab a book (or anything with text on it)\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Look straight ahead and make sure your vision is clear while looking into the distance\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Look down your lens and point your nose at the book\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hold the book out to a comfortable reading position\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gently move your head up and down \u2013 there should be a smooth transition through the lens\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Move the book while keeping your head still \u2013 the text will look less sharp\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Point your nose towards the book and raise your chin until the text is in focus\u202f<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repeat these movements, keeping your nose pointed at the book\u202f<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-they-work\"><strong>The science behind wearing progressives: How they work<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clearly.ca\/thelook\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/progressive_no-lines_ca.jpeg\" alt=\"progressives central corridor of the lens is clear\" class=\"wp-image-24644\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Progressive lenses are <a href=\"\/lens-type\/multifocal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">multifocal lenses<\/a> that offer vision correction at all distances (near, intermediate, far, and everything in between) within one pair of glasses.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Progressives are the most advanced multifocal lens solution and have no visible line in the middle of the lens.
